Chicken King in North Little Rock is a Great Place to Get Your Wing On

April 15, 2018 By WooPigFoodie Leave a Comment

I can be a bit particular about chicken wings. I want them crispy and hot, spicy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And never, not ever, breaded. So, it was a really pleasant surprise to find a great chicken wing restaurant just a few miles from my office. It’s Chicken King, over at 2704 MacArthur Drive in North Little Rock.

Chicken King is a takeout only place. Sure, there are a couple of chairs inside, but those are for waiting, not for eating. You’ll be glad for the chairs, since it takes about 15 minutes for your order to be freshly prepared. There are a bunch of flavors you can order (extra hot, hot, honey mustard, lemon pepper, bbq, garlic hot, and honey mustard bbq), but I like the standard buffalo the best so that’s what I had, ordering it hot. One of the Tasting Krewe was with me, and he ordered the garlic hot. I’ve heard good things about the honey mustard and lemon pepper, too.

The chicken is really beautiful. The $8.99 lunch special comes with 10 wings, fries, a roll, and some ranch dressing. It’s really a ton of food and a super deal for the price.

You get an even number of drummettes and wing pieces, and all are nicely fried and crispy, then slathered in the sauce. I found the hot sauce had some sugar in it. I would have preferred no sugar, so I think I’ll order the Extra Hot buffalo version the next time.

The fries were thin, like you get at the Golden Arches. I liked the fries just fine—crispy, hot, salty, but they paled in comparison to that beautiful chicken.

If you’re in the area, or even miles away, come check out Chicken King. It’s a really solid chicken wing option. I’m going to add this to my regular lunch rotation.

The Thing About Fried Pickles

The thing about fried pickles is that you know they’re going to be hot. And you know that little cup of ranch dressing isn’t going to do it. You’re going to burn your mouth, your hands, and have hot vinegary dill pickle juice streaming down your chin and dripping onto the table. That’s just the way it is. And you don’t care. So you dive in, and burn yourself good. And it’s fantastic.
