Memphis In May World Championship BBQ Contest 2024

May 18, 2024 By WooPigFoodie Leave a Comment

I have judged the Memphis in May BBQ contest every year since 2016. 2024 was a great year, ending with a threepeat by The Shed. Here are a bunch of my favorite photos I took during the event, and even have a bunch of judging photos to give you a taste of what it is like behind the scenes. I hope you enjoy these!

Here’s some pics of the Boars Night Out team:

Here’s some pics of The Shed, who went on to win first place in whole hog and also their third grand championship.

Here’s a few pics of Jack’s Old South, the team run by the winningest man in barbecue, Myron Mixon:

Here’s a few pics of the Heath Riles team:

Here’s a bunch of pics of one of my favorite barbecue people, the kind and focused Big Bob Gibson team:

Here’s a bunch of pics of the Bubba Grills team:

And now for awards. You’ve seen the finals judging, and now it’s time to see who is the winner.

And The Shed takes Grand Champion!

It’s a threepeat for The Shed!

The Thing About Fried Pickles

The thing about fried pickles is that you know they’re going to be hot. And you know that little cup of ranch dressing isn’t going to do it. You’re going to burn your mouth, your hands, and have hot vinegary dill pickle juice streaming down your chin and dripping onto the table. That’s just the way it is. And you don’t care. So you dive in, and burn yourself good. And it’s fantastic.
